Nurturing a Growth Mind – Set for Future Generations
The life of an average 12-year-old Kenyan revolves around school and friends. Occasionally, they read a book or two, but ZuriKaloki, has defied this definition by being able to publish her own booking and joining the club of young authors in the country and around the world.
“Maajabu-Hungry Animals”, her first book, narrates the adventures of life in the wilderness using animal characters. Zuri paints a picture of happiness and tranquility in the animal Kingdom. But what is a story without conflict? The status quo is threatened when a drought strikes and affects the food supply in the land. The fox has to set out and search for food then the readers join the fox on his quest. The young author uses the journey to explore various themes such as trickery and kindness. The language is simple and engaging to suit her young audience. The book is listed on Amazon both as a kindle version and paperback.
Zuri is a student at Brookside Preparatory School where she joined at a tender age of two and is currently the head girl. She is also in the gifted & talented class. However, it is not all work and no play in Zuri’s worldbecause she enjoys playing chess and the piano.
At Brookside, we pride ourselves in strong foundations bothin literacy and numeracy subjects,as well as developing social skills. Our talented children receive all encouragement and support to explore their areas of interest to the fullest. None of this can be achieved without a close partnership with their families. They form a significant support system in fulfilling and nurturing these dreams.
