Learning support Program
One of the main departments within Montessori house is The Learning Support Department. This department supports learners with a range of Special Educational Needs and those with delayed developmental milestones to reach their potential. This is done through identifying the challenge and seeking to remove any barriers to learning.
We are fortunate to work with some of the most remarkable and unique young learners and support them using a range of strategies, tailored to their individual needs in an inclusive set up.
This support is structured to be learner-centeredand also, we liaise with parents and professionals to ensure that the provision we put in place will ultimately enable a learner to achieve fulfilling outcomes well into their future.
Our Philosophy
We believe and advocate for early identification and intervention. Early identification facilitates the use of intervention strategies to provide a positive early experience for learners who are at risk of academic difficulties.
Activities
Despite the challenges caused by the Covid 19 pandemic, the Learning support department had a huge array of activities in all our schools. These included psycho education assessment reviews, I.E.P conferences, Inclusion week celebrations and Parent teacher progress review conferences. All these activities are always a great success and we appreciate all the stakeholders for their devotion and dedication towards them.
Exams
We are keen to ensure that no learner is disadvantaged in their formal examinations and assessments. If they are in need of access arrangements, such as a scribe, reader, enlarged or modified papers or extra time, the Cambridge system has set of available concessions and we ensure that any request for access arrangements for individuals is represented accurately by the school. Ultimately, however, the decision is made by the Awarding Body overseeing the examination. If a learner is in need of concessions, the school demonstrates their usual way of working before a concession is likely to be granted.
